Notes:
For 2006 we're using a system very similar to what the Amercans use, called the NTSS. It's broadly based on field validity and GAP task validity, a draft of the 2006 rules is here. If anyone has changes please send them to gadd@gravsports.com, I'll forward them to the Competition Committee for review.
I had to come up with a way to integrate the old 2005 system and the new 2006 NTSS, so what I did was set the max "2005 system" points to 100, and the max "NTSS 2006" points to 100. This means that whomever ranks first for 2005 gets 100 points, same for 2006. I then used the points percentages of that instead of "pure NTSS points." Because the two numbers are based on totally different scoring systems I had to figure out some way to make them "equal," percentages seemed fair to me.
The basic assumption here is that, overall, any year is worth the same as any other year in total points for comparison purposes. This seemed the most fair to me--anyone who differs let me know, I just wanted to get this going so we can have a live ranking as below.
Note that the 2006 "ranking points" will obviously change around with additional comps--right now there is only one 2006 comp, so Amir currently has 100 points. This will change as other comps are added, but points will always be expressed as a percentage of the leader's total points for doing the ranking for the 2007 world team rankings. For example, if Amir goes and wins the next meet and it's a fully valid meet he will get 660 points for a ranking total of 496+660= (Monarca=496) or 1156, everybody else divides their score by 1156 and multiplies by 100 for points. For the 2008 ranking and the 2009 world team we can just use actual NTSS points without doing any "conversion." The sheet may be simpler to follow than my explanation.
