NTSS INTERIM RANKINGS, AUGUST 10 2006
NOTES:
-It sounds as though we are unfotunately only going to have two men and one woman for Australia.
-The race among the top three men is very, very close (Nicole has a lock, grin). If Amir gets a good score in Europe next week he will likely jump to the top of the rankings. He is currently scored for 2006 with only two meets. Plug in a 500 point meet for him in the spreadsheet and he moves up a lot. If Keith or I do well at Sun Valley we will drop one Canadian score. It's a race. Jim Orava's lack of good points from 2005 hurt him.
-Alex would be very competitive if he had a Canadian meet. I had a long discussion with some of the Americans about how they use national and international meets, I think our system is fairer in general but does hurt those who compete internationally.
-Overall I think the NTSS system is working pretty well for valuing meets. It's no longer just how many pilots are at a meet, but how valid the field and tasks are as we wanted. It takes some work to go through the WPRS for points, but that seems to work generally well for valuing international meets or international pilots competing in our meets.
-The Race Willi was very valid both for the field and tasks. The addition of the Americans and Gavin (Oz) really bumped the field validity up. Thanks to everyone who helped with that, it didn't have the organization of the Canadian Nationals (thanks Eric and Mark!) but we made it work. It was an education.
-We've got a lot of new names in the list, which is what our goal was. It's especially good to see the new names from Quebec. I'm adding everyone to the list even if they have very low points. More work but maybe seeing their name on the ladder will help fire them up.
